Summary

WorkSafeBC is considering new health and safety regulations to help prevent psychological injuries at work.

The proposed new requirements will help employers find, understand, and address workplace conditions (psychosocial hazards) that may contribute to a worker’s psychological injury. These hazards can arise from things like traumatic events at work, how work is organized, the physical work environment, and the equipment used in the workplace.

Psychological injury claims have increased significantly in recent years. Employers have told WorkSafeBC they want clarity about their responsibilities and how to prevent these injuries in the workplace. The proposed changes were developed with input from workers, employers, and other interested parties.

The goal is to provide more clarity about what employers are responsible for and to support healthier and safer workplaces across B.C.

WorkSafeBC wants to hear from workers, employers, and other interested parties from across the province. Your feedback will help WorkSafeBC develop the regulations, including their practicality and fit for B.C. workplaces.
